PILATES
Strengthen and Stabilise
The traditional method of Pilates is low-impact, focusing on flexibility, muscular strength & endurance. The exercises are performed with an emphasis on precision, technique, balanced postural alignment, core strength, controlled flowing movements, & using breath to center the mind.
Pilates is a total body exercise, developed almost one hundred years ago by Joseph Pilates, to rehabilitate injured WW1 soldiers & later, for strength & conditioning of dancers. It became a favourite exercise option of the elite in New York in the 1960s, but has now become more widely available, with a huge range of styles, from classic to contemporary & a number of hybrid classes, combining Pilates with everything from yoga to boxing.
All classes focus on CENTRE, movement from a STABLE CORE, as well as:
- Balanced muscle development
- Alignment | Precision
- Stability | Control
- Rhythm | Flow | Breath
- Awareness | Concentration
Correct & regular practice will bring precision, stability & correct movement patterns into the body. Your daily life will soon begin to take shape from your practice, creating a sense of ease from a stronger body & mind awareness.
We also offer specialised sessions for corporate wellness, rehabilitation, athletic performance, stress management, pre-& post-natal, children, elderly & otherly-abled bodies.
