DID YOU KNOW that your pelvic floor muscles form part of your core?

The pelvic floor is made up of multiple muscles that fill in the bottom of your pelvis, connecting the pubic bone to the tailbone & sits bones to each other (like a hammock). The pelvic floor also:

  • closes & opens the orifices in your pelvis (anus, urethra, vagina)
  • provides support for the pelvic organs
  • works as past of your core to stabilise your torso & give you support

If the core is functioning properly as a unit, the pelvic floor will engage as needed.Issues arise when it is too weak or too tight. Therefore we need to practice engaging as well as releasing these muscles.

Want to know more? Our Core Workshop Series will help you understand, recruit and strengthen ALL the core muscles, including the pelvic floor. You can purchase these two workshops here.
